Divination: Oracle Cards, Tarot Card Decks, I-ching, Runes
Divination has really gained in popularity in recent years and is not something saved for those mystical folk who ask for silver to cross their palm in a tent at the circus. Divining basically is about using tools to help you access the divine and ask questions. To seek guidance or reassurance when you feel a little lost. I tend to pull a card when I am feeling unsure if I am on the right path. It really doesn’t matter which tool you use, all that matters is that you are open and inquisitive.
Oracle cards
A deck of cards, typically with 44 or more cards, that are used to provide guidance and insight into a person’s life. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including personal growth, spiritual development, and gaining clarity on specific situations or questions. They come in lots of different designs and are typically based on a theme, such as angels, animals, or nature. I have a crystal healing deck which allows you to pick a card and see which crystal you need.
Tarot cards
Usually follow a specific structure and symbolism. A traditional tarot deck consists of 78 cards, divided into the Major Arcana (22 cards) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards).
They are often used for divination to gain insight into the past, present, and future. To use them for divination, you first need to choose an existing or new deck that resonates with you. You’ll also need to learn the meanings of each card, and how to interpret them in the context of a reading in an intuitive reading. There are many different tarot spreads you can use, depending on the type of question you have and the level of detail you want in your reading.
Runes
Runes are a divination system that has been used for centuries by various cultures throughout Europe. They consist of a set of 24 or 25 symbols, each with its own meaning and interpretation. Runes are typically made from natural materials such as wood, stone, or bone, and are often kept in a bag or pouch. To use runes for divination, you need to select a set of runes that resonates with you and learn the meanings of each symbol. You can then ask a question and draw a single rune or cast several runes onto a cloth or other surface. The position and orientation of the runes can give you insight into the answer to your question, as well as guidance and advice for moving forward. Runes can be a powerful tool for gaining clarity and insight into your life, and can help you connect with your intuition and inner wisdom.
I-ching
The I Ching, also known as the Book of Changes, is an ancient Chinese divination system that has been used for over 3,000 years. It consists of 64 hexagrams, each made up of six lines, which are used to interpret the changing patterns of life. The I Ching is based on the principle of Yin and Yang, which represents the two opposing but complementary forces of the universe. By casting coins or yarrow sticks, you can generate a hexagram that provides guidance and insight into a particular situation or question. Each hexagram has its own unique meaning, and can be interpreted in different ways depending on the context of the reading. The I Ching is a powerful tool for gaining clarity and wisdom, and can help you navigate the challenges and opportunities of life with greater insight and understanding.
Dowsing
Dowsing is a form of divination that involves using a tool, such as a pendulum or divining rod, to locate objects or information. The technique has been used for centuries to find water sources, mineral deposits, and archaeological artifacts. In terms of divination, dowsing can also be used to answer yes or no questions or gain insight into specific situations. It is believed that dowsing works by tapping into the user’s subconscious or higher spiritual knowledge. Despite some skepticism around its effectiveness, many people continue to use dowsing as a tool for divination and problem-solving.
