5 Team Building Exercises for Remote Teams

Working remotely can be challenging, especially when it come

s to building strong relationships with your colleagues. However, team building exercises can help remote teams improve communication, collaboration, and overall productivity. Here are five fun and effective exercises to bring your remote team closer together.

Remote Candle Making Workshop

A truly incredible way to engage a remote team is to send them a candle making kit each.. either with the same scent or a selection of scents to choose from. You could get people to describe the scents to each other or simply work through the instructions together. You could also ask that we host the Zoom call and talk everyone through it which we are happy to do for free when there are 8 or more people.

Obviously if you are local to us in DEvon or Dorset then you can invite everyone to stay near the beach and get together in person to enjoy a lovely weekend by the sea while fitting in a candle workshop with us!

Virtual Scavenger Hunt.

A virtual scavenger hunt is a great way to get your remote team working together and having fun. Create a list of items or tasks for your team to find or complete, and set a time limit for them to do so. You can use video conferencing software to check in on their progress and see who completes the scavenger hunt first. This exercise encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity, all while having a good time.

Two Truths and a Lie.

Two Truths and a Lie is a classic icebreaker game that can be easily adapted for remote teams. Each team member shares three statements about themselves, two of which are true and one of which is a lie. The rest of the team then has to guess which statement is the lie. This exercise encourages communication, active listening, and getting to know each other better. It can also be a fun way to break the ice and start a meeting or team call.

Virtual Escape Room.

A virtual escape room is a great team building exercise for remote teams. There are many online platforms that offer virtual escape rooms that can be completed together as a team. This exercise requires communication, problem-solving, and collaboration to solve puzzles and escape the virtual room. It’s a fun and engaging way to bring your remote team closer together while also developing important skills for working together effectively.

Collaborative Playlist Creation.

Creating a collaborative playlist is a great way to bring your remote team together and learn more about each other’s musical tastes. Using a platform like Spotify, each team member can add their favorite songs to the playlist and share why they chose them. This exercise not only encourages communication and collaboration but also helps team members connect on a personal level. Plus, you’ll have a great playlist to listen to during future team meetings or work sessions.

We would love to hear which one you choose and if you would like to discuss a remote candle making experience then we would love to chat!
